Discount Lodging at Conference Hotels:
We pride ourselves on offering the best hotel rates for our Conference attendees. AWP's Conference hotels typically sell out of rooms months in advance; so reserve your room soon to avoid disappointment. Below is a list of AWP Conference Hotels offering discount lodging to Conference attendees. All reservations must be guaranteed with a refundable one-night deposit (applicable towards your hotel bill) and a major credit card.

Reserve Your Room Online
To book your room online and receive our discount rate today, please visit the special AWP Conference page at each hotel by clicking on the hotel logo or following the "Website Reservations" link. All reservations must be guaranteed with a refundable one-night deposit (applicable towards your hotel bill) and a major credit card.

Reserve Your Room by Telephone
To book your room by telephone and receive our discount rate today, please call one of the hotels listed below, and tell them you're with AWP's conference. All reservations must be guaranteed with a refundable one-night deposit (applicable towards your hotel bill) and a major credit card.

If you do not receive AWP’s discount conference rate please contact AWP Conference Services: conference@awpwriter.org

Three things you should know before reserving your room:

  1. Please do not reserve more rooms than you currently have a confirmed need for. AWP’s discounted rooms sell out quickly, and each year dozens of discounted rooms being held by attendees are cancelled and go unused. Please be considerate of your peers and all other Conference attendees by only reserving rooms for those individuals that are confirmed to attend the Conference.
  2. You will be asked to secure your room with a one-night deposit. This deposit is refundable through December 15, 2009. After that date, all deposits are non-refundable. If you cancel your reservations fewer than 72 hours in advance of your arrival the hotel will apply a cancellation fee to this deposit.
  3. Please be mindful of the deadlines at each hotel to reserve a room at AWP’s rate. After these dates the Conference rate will no longer be available to attendees.

Getting Around in Denver
All AWP Conference Hotels are located in the Central Business District, walking distance to many local businesses and attractions. Denver offers several modes of transportation for getting around the area.

  • 16th Street Shuttle: Runs for free throughout the central business and entertainment district of downtown Denver.
  • Light Rail Service/RTD: Stops at most corners in the city, including Invesco Field, Pepsi Center/Six Flags/Elitch Gardens, Union Station - Lower downtown (LODO)/Coors Field/16th Street Mall. Cost is $1.75 -$4.00 each way.
  • Taxi Service: Yellow Cab Taxi (303) 777-7777.
  • Union Station: Rail Road Station is approximately 11 blocks from all hotels. Union Station is accessible via the 16th Street Shuttle.

To and From Denver International Airport
All ground transportation services at Denver International Airport (DIA) are located in Jeppesen Terminal, level 5.  For information, call 303-342-2000 or www.flydenver.com and click on Ground Transportation.

  • Super Shuttle (to any of the 4 hotels):
    • Shuttle service is discounted to $32.00 round trip per person or $19.00 one way per person
    • Use the online discount code, ELBB5, which should be entered when pre-arranging shuttle service at www.supershuttle.com. Passengers can also call 1-800-BLUEVAN (258-3826), give the code, ELBB5, to the call takers and make discounted reservations.
    • Shuttles depart DIA on schedule for the Downtown hotels every 15 minutes from 7:00 am – 5:15 pm daily and then as-needed for the rest of the day.
    • Shuttles depart on schedule from the Downtown hotels to DIA every 15 minutes from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm daily and then by reservation all other times. Attendees can call 800-BlueVan (800-258-3826) to make their return reservation at a time that best suits their flight departure time (we recommend being at the airport 1.5 hours prior to flight time).
    • Guests should proceed to the SuperShuttle ticket counter in the main terminal upon arrival at DIA, level 5 (same as baggage claim), check in and receive their tickets and will be directed to the van loading area.
    • For ticket information, call 800-258-3826 or 303-316-3865.
    • Super Shuttle features blue vans with SUPER SHUTTLE printed on the side.
  • Taxi Service:
    • Yellow Cab Taxi - Approximate cost is $51 to DIA from downtown and $54.50 from DIA to the hotel.

Services for Persons with Disabilities:
